Hidden Facebook Messages
When you normally check your Facebook Messages, you're just seeing conversations from bonafide friends. That isn't actually every one of your messages. Facebook filters messages from individuals you aren't good friends with. Generally, this is great-- a lot of these messages are pure spam. Nonetheless, every now and then, a legit message from a not-yet-Facebook-friend ends up in this no male's land.

How to find hidden messages on Facebook
To check for your hidden messages, open Facebook on the desktop. After that, touch the Messages icon in the top right. In the food selection that pops up below, you'll see that "Message Requests" is grayed out next to "Recent.".
Select Message Requests. Here are messages from Facebook users wishing to talk with you, but aren't yet your good friend. You can also tap "See Filtered Requests" at the end of this menu for potentially more missed messages.
You can also access these messages from Facebook Messenger. In the application, go to Settings in the bottom right (it's the icon that looks like a list), after that touch "People.".
In a similar way to on the desktop computer, faucet "Message Requests," after that "Filtered Requests." This will reveal you all the messages Facebook deemed unworthy of your time.
Once you find out about this secret inbox, it's an excellent idea to check it monthly or 2, simply to make sure absolutely nothing important slips via. I, sadly, did not heed this recommendations.
